The effects of loss are acute. You thought it’s mere acceptance — one sunset, one season, one period of time. Passed. It’s over. And you move on.

But it seldom goes like that. It’s usually one major loss followed by a million little losses that glide in cycles. One song on the playlist. One thought crosses the mind. One glance at the silvery moon. Suddenly, you become aware that a piece of you, one that you can never get back, is missing.
